Two pedestrians and a bicyclist were killed Saturday when they were hit by cars in three separate accidents on the West Side and downtown, police said.
Two of the incidents were hit and run, police officer Kristina Schuler said.
The identities of the victims, all males, were not available Saturday night, said a spokesman with the Cook County medical examiner's office.
About 6 p.m., a male pedestrian was crossing the 5000 block of West Madison Street when he was hit by a car that did not stop after the accident, Schuler said. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was dead on arrival, she said.
A suspect in the incident was in custody and being questioned by police Saturday night, according to Schuler.
About 6:11 a.m., a male bicyclist was killed in another hit-and-run accident on West Madison Street, Schuler said.
The victim, who was struck by a unknown car while riding his bike on the street's 4600 block, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remained under investigation with no one in custody Saturday night, Schuler said.
About 12:20 p.m., a third man was killed when he darted into traffic and was hit by a car on the 100 block of West Congress Parkway, according to Schuler.
The 72-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, she said.
